Project: Pump Station Building Replacement and Refurbishment
Client: Hunter Water
Delivery Partner: Tallai Constructions
Location: Masonite Road, Tomago
Time: 24/03/2022 – 08/08/2022
Infinium Constructions, in successful collaboration with Tallai Constructions, proudly delivered a complex and critical infrastructure upgrade for Hunter Water.
This essential project involved the complete replacement of a severely damaged pump station building, along with a comprehensive interior refurbishment of the associated facilities to improve functionality, safety, and long-term performance.
Over time, the original pump station structure had suffered extensive termite and water damage. As a result, the building’s integrity had been severely compromised and was creating a significant risks to both the facility’s operational functionality and the overall safety of the site.
To maintain uninterrupted water services and continuous operations during construction the team adopted a strategic and innovative approach. They constructed the new pump station building directly over the existing structure, which helped minimise downtime and disruption. Once the new facility was fully operational and secure, the team carefully demolished and removed the original building in a controlled and efficient process, meeting all environmental and safety compliance requirements.
Scope of Works:
- Excavation and pouring of new strip footings
- Installation of screw piles
- Construction of external block walls
- Erection of a structural steel frame
- Controlled demolition and removal of the existing structure
- Comprehensive refurbishment of the dry well
- Installation of external cladding, roofing systems, and a complete internal fit-out
